Happy First Birthday Lucy!
Lucy we have loved you since the day we knew you were going to join our family. Your sisters loved hugging you when you were in my belly and we could hardly wait for you to join our family. When you arrived you seemed so comfortable in our family. You seemed as if you already knew each one of us and already had a strong bond with us and that bond has grown over this past year. I just want to gobble you right up. You are so squeezable and friendly and observant and excited about life. You squeal with delight several times a day and already know how to rough house. You are the one that starts a lot of the pillow fights around this house. You love playing with other children and especially your sisters. You wave to everyone and say "bye" when we leave or others leave. You are an amazing little girl and I look forward to the years ahead with you in our lives. We love you Lucy! Happy Birthday!
I've posted a lot of pics, so keep scrolling. This was one of our favorite days ever and it was so great to have Sam take a break from his studies to join us.
Opening her presents
Lucy woke up to find a fancy balloon birthday seat and a Lucy dolly sitting in her seat.
A singing birthday card from dad.
Lucy could not believe her luck when she opened up a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste. Thanks Grandma B!
Lucy and her sisters love the new frog pull toy. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa S.! And she is sporting her new froggy shoes from Grandma B.
Folsom Zoo on Lucy's Birthday
On the road for some adventure. This was Lucy's first time facing forward in the car seat and she loved it! First stop was a Fish and Chips shop.
Then the Folsom Zoo.
The zoo is really quite amazing in that it also is a rescue center for neglected animals. The zoo was a lot more calm and informative than other zoos I have been to. It also contains animals that are native California animals. There were beautiful chickens and peacocks roaming throughout the zoo. We smelled a skunk smell when we arrived and were glad to see a sign that read that if you come across a couple of skunks roaming around to stay away because they are wild and not part of the zoo before we had run into the skunks (which we never did).
We Rode in a Steam Engine on Lucy's Birthday
We got to ride on a real steam engine, much more thrilling than the more common electric trains.
