Alooooooooha!

We made it to Hawaii and were greeted at the airport with leis and Grandma Burgoyne. We have had a blast since we have arrived. Today was our first full day here. We woke up and had a nice breakfast. Then Nate and Heidi arrived with their girls. Heidi and I (Erica) went running while pushing the girls in their strollers. We got back and changed into swimming suits and cooled off over at the beach. Leila is a natural when it comes to the beach. She loves the water, she loves to play in the sand, she loves it all. She also loves her cousins, Kezia and Ivy. While we were doing this, Dad (Sam) was out spear fishing with Uncle Nate. Then after lunch and a "nap" Sam and I and the girls went for a long walk along a road that follows the beach and through the town of Haleiwa dreaming of living in Hawaii. Then we got home and Sam and Leila walked down to the beach catching sand crabs. Then it was dinner on the porch with the sunset. Now if that is not a bit of paradise I am not sure what is. (Unfortunately we didn't tote the camera around today, so all we have are these pictures in the airport parking lot, oh well, we have the whole summer to take pictures.)

Grandma and the Girls

After dropping Grandma off at the airport Leila kept telling us that she was sad because she missed her grandma.

Funderland!

There is a toddler amusement park that is about a ten minute drive away from home. Grandma took us there during her visit. Leila loved driving the car.

New Shoes!

Grandma Swenson visited us for a few days before we took off for the summer. She pampered the girls. Leila got her nails painted and raced through the mall trying just about every shoe on until she finally found the perfect couple of pairs of beach sandals. Amelia got a new pair of shoes too. After Sam put them on her feet she kept looking at her shoes and squealing with delight.

Danny and Britney's House

Britney invited us over to go swimming in their pool. Afterwards the girls and Sam played a Japanese drumming game (Amelia IS wearing a diaper by the way).

Race for the Cure

Erica and her friend Danelle decided a few months ago that they were going to get in shape and run a 5K that Race for the Cure was putting on (Breast Cancer). They ran 3 mornings a week for a few months. They reached their personal goal of running the whole race without stopping and are pretty excited to say that the day after neither of them were even sore.

Open Wide!

Leila loves to feed Amelia her oatmeal and Amelia loves for Leila to feed her the oatmeal as she adores her older sister, the only trouble is that I am not quite sure much of the oatmeal makes it into Amelia's stomach.

Pool Party!

Leila had a few friends over to play in her new little swimming pool. Needless to say from the looks on those kids' faces that they had a great time.

Special Delivery!

We received a couple of packages in the mail. Oh, they're so cute, I wonder who sent them.

Sacramento LDS Temple

There is a temple being built near our home. I believe it will be dedicated in September. Leila loves temples, in fact she thinks that she sees temples everywhere, even if it is just Tower Records or some other big nicely made building. We walked into Trader Joes one time and there was a painting of a building on the ground. Leila got down on her knees and embraced the building and said, "A Temple!". Of course I got her right up and silently wondered whether we were a little too zealous in teaching our kids about the temple.

Yard Work

Sam found a couple of critters while doing yard work. Leila loves to help in the yard. She loves digging in the dirt to find grubs and worms.
